Occasionally, when overhauling computers, the fresh install process is not straightforward, and you may not be able to find a hard drive to install Windows onto a partition. In such cases, you will need to download and install storage drivers in order for your hard drive to appear during the installation. Photos to come.
- Go to the Lenovo website and download the storage drivers for the specific Lenovo computer model you are working on.
- Insert the Media Creation Tool you are using into the USB port of the computer on which you are installing Windows.
- Create a folder within the “Drivers” folder of the Media Creation Tool and label it with the computer model you are working on.
- Extract the files from the downloaded storage driver and move them to the Media Creation Tool. Place them in the new folder that you named after the computer model.
- Hold down the Shift key and restart the computer, booting from the USB device.
- Install Windows, and when the hard drive screen appears, click on “Load/Install Drivers.”
- Navigate to the drivers folder on the Media Creation Tool and click on the new folder containing the newly extracted driver files. Install the files.
- Your hard drive should now appear and be ready for deleting and managing partitions for the Windows installation.
